Summer 2010 News & Information
Friday, June 11, in Branson left everyone feeling discouraged to host our stand. The skies were full of gloom and rain clouds. We had rain in the forecast for the entire weekend and it actually poured rain until 10:40 a.m. on Friday with our stand set to open at 11 a.m. However with a lot of prayer and belief the rain lifted that Friday morning and did not return for the remainder of the weekend. The weekend finished out with 90-degree plus temperatures and 80% humidity. We took 30-minute shifts sitting outside with the stand.
The entire front desk (Michelle, Meagan, Crystal, Helen, Liz and Sarah) worked the month of May on getting shows, restaurants and local grocery stores to donate items for our stand. Six theaters donated show tickets, one local company donated a bird bath and Sam’s Club donated a gift card. A 2-night stay at Stormy Point Village and a 1-night stay at Peppertree Thousand Hills were both donated for a raffle, thanks to Vince Vaselovic at Stormy Point and Roger Bennett from Cabins/Thousand Hills.
Also, everyone at the front desk baked and wrapped around 500 chocolate chip cookies to be sold. Jim and Bill from our Maintenance department built the stand for us and took it down each night in case it did rain. We had a few show ticket baskets left over so we took them to The Cabins at Green Mountain where Brandon, Jackie and Lou were able to sell them for us.
Our goal was to raise $750 and we were able to raise $810.61 to donate to Alex's Lemonade Stand.
